About the Author

 

LAN SLUDER is an Asheville native. A former business newspaper editor in New Orleans, Belize magazine editor and publisher and Asheville ad agency owner and marketing consultant, Sluder is the author of more than 20 books on travel and retirement including Asheville: Retirement, Relocation and Visitor Guide, Amazing Asheville, Fodor’s Belize, Frommer’s Best Beach Vacations: Carolinas and Georgia, Easy Belize and Living Abroad in Belize. He also has written books on private detectives, Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars and the game of bridge. Sluder has contributed to many newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, Caribbean Travel & Life, Where to Retire, Chicago Tribune, Bangkok Post, Charlotte Observer and Toronto Globe & Mail. He and his wife, Sheila M. Lambert, an attorney, live on a mountain farm near Asheville, a part of which has been in his family since the mid-1800s. Sluder and his wife have two children, Rose Lambert-Sluder, a writer who earned an MFA in creative writing at the University of Oregon, and Brooks Lambert-Sluder, Assistant Director of Advising Programs at Harvard.
